THE STORY BEHIND OVERDOPE

Hello, I’m Alexandros and this journey began in Greece in 2002.

At 15, I spent hours in internet cafés downloading free DAW software to make music. I wasn’t allowed to save anything, so every session started from zero. But I didn’t care. Creating was the only thing that mattered.
After a few months of working small jobs, I finally saved enough to buy a basic computer, a pair of hi-fi speakers, and a MIDI keyboard. I turned my bedroom into a tiny studio. What I lacked in equipment, I made up for in obsession. Every cent I earned went back into improving my setup, and every spare hour went into learning.
In my early twenties, I moved to Germany searching for stability. I worked long days as a truck driver and spent my nights in a small home studio, taking on my first clients as a music producer and audio engineer. It wasn’t glamorous but it was real. And the hunger to create only grew stronger.
In 2016, life brought me to Cyprus for love.
Hi, I’m Marianna and this is where I enter the story.

What began as a personal chapter between us quickly became something much bigger.
I had years of experience in business management and had run my own beauty salon. But more than anything, I believed in Alexandros. While planning our wedding and running my business, I couldn’t accept that someone with his talent would spend his life behind the wheel of a truck. So I found a small space, rented it, and surprised him with one sentence:
“Your mission is to build the studio.” And he did.
With time, I stepped in fully learning the technical side, expanding the vision, and building with him, step by step.
We didn’t stop at music. We grew into photography and video. It was no longer his dream. It had become our shared purpose.

Why “Overdope”?

Our first studio had a tiny recording booth. To record multiple parts, we relied on overdubbing layering sounds one by one until the song came together.
Every time we nailed a sound, we felt that rush of dopamine that deep, addictive feeling of creating something real.
So we combined the technical process with the emotional reward and formed one word:
Overdope. Even our logo reflects this: the round shape of a vinyl and the benzene ring from the dopamine molecule fused into one symbol.

Built With Our Own Hands.

We had no investors, no shortcuts, no easy path.
Everything we know recording, mixing, lighting, cinematography, editing, sound design we learned ourselves, through real work and real mistakes.
After working with international and local brands (Alexandros as a video creator and technical lead, and me as a production manager), we decided to bet completely on ourselves.

We found a larger space next to our tiny studio an empty shell with no insulation, no proper electrical setup, and plenty of problems. But we saw the potential and we built it ourselves from the ground up. Wall by wall. Cable by cable. Room by room.

Where We Are Today

Today, Overdope is a 300 m² creative hub in Nicosia a place where content is created from scratch under one roof. A space where businesses, artists, and families come to turn ideas into reality.
Our strength isn’t just the equipment or the rooms. It’s the energy. People walk in and immediately feel safe and supported. Because when we take on a project, we commit fully. We push until the goal is reached.
We overdeliver not as a strategy, but because it’s who we are.
Over time, we’ve become known in Cyprus not just as professionals, but as a powerhouse a couple with vision, discipline, and integrity that stand out. Every project is treated like our own. Every client becomes a partner.
This studio wasn’t built on hype. It was built on heart, sacrifice, risk, resilience and an unstoppable drive to create, even when life gets hard.

Overdope isn’t just a studio. It’s a story.
And now, you’re invited to be part of it.
